Saturn SL1 intake piping. A+ mod.

My girlfriend has a 2002 SL1. Her factory intake pipe that runs from the airbox to the TB was just a plastic pipe. I just got a 1996 SL1 with a bad motor. Mine has an expansion chamber like thing, looks kind of like a cobra's head. After seeing some CFD on airflow, I figured I'd try my pipe on her car.

First problem is the 02's airbox outlet is oval, and the 96's is round. To remedy this, you just need the 02 hose clamp, pull off the spring clamp from the 96, cut off the little tab that's in the way, put the hose clamp on the old style pipe, and stretch the pipe over the newer airbox. The lids or boxes don't interchange.

Fits great, and it DOES help part throttle power. It cruises around with less throttle now, and it's quieter. She never checks her mileage, so there will be no B&A. It has to help on mileage.

Someone with a newer SL1 and a scangauge should try this too and post the results.

Wow Good to know that. Very interesting. I'm actually planning this too before but I 'm afraid that it'll mess up. Thanks to your post i think I will try it too to my Saturn SL1 next month. I got all the saturn parts needed anyway so this will be easy. Cheers to this. Thanks.
